Privacy Policy

The short version: Ara does not sell your information, run advertising, or track you across apps and websites. Your pill schedule and history are stored on your device by default. If you choose Premium iCloud Sync, Ara also stores and syncs this information through your private iCloud account. Ara uses Apple services only where needed to provide features you choose.

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Ara iOS app and this website handle information. In this policy, “Ara,” “we,” and “us” refer to the Ara app and its developer. Questions can be sent to araappsupport@gmail.com.

2. Information stored by the app

Ara lets you enter information such as:

pill pack dates, active and placebo pill counts;
pill status and the time a pill was logged;
daily reminder preferences and notification style;
home time zone, travel destinations, and travel schedules; and
app preferences, including whether App Lock is enabled.

This information is stored locally on your device by default. If you enable Premium iCloud Sync, Ara also stores and synchronizes your packs, pill history, and settings through your private iCloud account so they are available across your Apple devices. Apple processes iCloud data under its own privacy terms. Ara does not operate an account system or an Ara-owned server that receives this information.

3. Notifications

If you enable reminders, Ara asks iOS for permission to schedule local notifications. Notification timing and content are based on your preferences and pill schedule. You can disable notifications in Ara or in iPhone Settings at any time.

4. App Lock and biometrics

If you enable App Lock, Ara uses Apple’s Local Authentication framework to request Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or your device passcode. Ara does not receive, store, or have access to your biometric information. Apple and your device perform the authentication.

5. Travel destination searches

When you search for a travel destination, Ara uses Apple MapKit to return city and time-zone suggestions. The search terms needed to provide those results may be processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy terms. Ara stores the destination and schedule you choose locally on your device.

6. Purchases

Ara Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple Account. Ara receives subscription product and entitlement information needed to unlock Premium features, but does not receive your payment card information. Apple retains purchase records according to its own policies.

7. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Ara does not currently include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell or rent personal information.

8. Website hosting

This website is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. When you visit it, Cloudflare may process standard network information—such as IP address, browser type, and request logs—to deliver and secure the website. Ara does not use cookies or analytics on this website. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for more information.

9. Retention and deletion

Information stored locally by Ara remains on your device until you delete individual records, clear relevant history, or delete the app. If you enable iCloud Sync, deleting the app from one device may not remove synchronized information from iCloud or your other devices. You can manage iCloud data through Apple’s settings and services. Normal device backups may also be retained by Apple according to your settings. Purchase records are controlled by Apple and cannot be deleted by Ara.

10. Your choices

You can change reminder, notification, App Lock, time-zone, pack, travel, and iCloud Sync settings within Ara. You can revoke notification permission in iPhone Settings. You may contact us with privacy questions or requests; because Ara does not maintain user accounts or an Ara server, we generally cannot identify or retrieve data stored on your device or in your private iCloud account.

11. Children

Ara is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an Ara account or server.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Ara’s features or data practices change. The effective date at the top will identify the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or this website when appropriate.
